GENERAL INFORMATION

Needles, blood, and injections can cause unpleasant emotional and physical symptoms such as anxiety, tension, dizziness, flushing, whitening, or nausea. Some people become unwell or pass out during injections or blood tests. This reaction is experienced as very unpleasant and it is therefore important to prevent it.

AINAR is registered with the Chamber of Commerce under number 83754687 and is located at Plesmanlaan 125, 1066CX, Amsterdam.

WHAT RESEARCH IS AINAR BASED ON?

At Tilburg University, we conduct research into fear of needles and into the emotional and physical reactions to needles through the FAINT study. The goal of the FAINT study is to develop a technique that, based on the colors in your face, can see whether you experience very early signs of anxiety and fainting before you realize it yourself. This technique forms the basis of AINAR.

FAINT is funded by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (www.nwo.nland by Sanquin.

WHY DOES AINAR REQUEST ACCESS TO MY CAMERA?

The game uses the frontal camera. We use this to look at certain aspects of your face with which we can see whether you are showing subconscious signals of fear. This is necessary to make the game work.

NB: We do not check your identity and we do not record you. We don’t take pictures or videos of your face.

IS THE APP SAFE?

The app has been developed by a professional game developer and meets the Security Technical IT (STITCH) requirements. You can find this at:
